Doug has always believed that public service is more than a career — it’s a responsibility. Growing up in Boonton and practicing law locally, he saw firsthand the impact of strong, accountable government. Since becoming mayor of Boonton Township and later a County Commissioner in 1997, his goal has been the same: deliver high-quality services, protect public safety, and keep taxes stable while preserving the county’s quality of life.
• Held the county tax rate flat for six straight years.
• Preserved and managed with a AAA bond rating.
• Championed shared services across municipalities to reduce duplication and lower costs.
• Carefully controlled budget growth, balancing needed services without spending excess.
• As Liaison for Law & Public Safety, he directly oversees support for 9-1-1 communications upgrades, emergency radio systems, and training centers.
• Supported integration of Park Police into the Sheriff’s Office for more efficient coverage.
• Advocates for modern tools for prosecutors, police analytics, and emergency response to ensure response times are fast and reliable.
• Longest-serving commissioner in Morris County, with deep institutional knowledge.
• Concrete measurable results: 0% tax increases, investment in parks and infrastructure, public safety improvements.
• Balanced governance: combining safety, compassion (help for those in need), and stewardship of county finances.
• Trusted by both community members and municipal leaders across all 39 towns.
• Maintain the county tax rate at zero increase for another term.
• Strengthen emergency response and law enforcement with upgraded communications infrastructure.
• Expand and improve human services (mental health, opioid recovery, senior support, homelessness prevention).
• Invest in county infrastructure: roads, bridges, parks, and public facilities.
• Support education and workforce training through County College of Morris and the Vocational School.
• Grow parks and preserve open space so future generations can enjoy them too.
• Over 28 years as a Morris County Commissioner since 1997.
• Prior service as Township Mayor and member of the Boonton Township governing body.
• Longtime legal practice and experience working with municipalities.
• Leadership in statewide county government as President of NJAC, advising on best practices.
