For the sixth year in a row, Morris County residents will not see an increase in their county tax rate. On March 26, 2025, the Morris County Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted a $376.6 million budget that balances fiscal discipline with essential investments in public safety, infrastructure, human services, and education.
PRIORITIZING TAXPAYERS
Doug Cabana has long argued that families in Morris County deserve relief from rising costs. By holding the county tax rate flat year after year, he has delivered stability for residents without compromising services. While inflation has averaged over 4% in recent years, Morris County has managed to keep its spending growth below 3%, proving that smart budgeting and efficiency protect taxpayers.
KEEPING COMMUNITIES SAFE
A central part of the 2025 budget is strengthening public safety. Doug supported funding for new staff in the 911 Communications Center, upgraded emergency radio systems for all 39 municipalities, and enhanced tools for law enforcement and prosecutors. These investments ensure that residents can count on fast, reliable emergency response.
SUPPORTING THOSE IN NEED
Doug also fought to make sure the budget expanded resources for human services. From programs like “Hope One” and “Navigating Hope” to food assistance, senior services, and support for veterans, the county is increasing outreach and care where it is most needed. Doug believes that fiscal responsibility must be paired with compassion.
INVESTING IN THE FUTURE
Beyond safety and services, the 2025 budget makes smart investments in infrastructure and education. Millions are allocated for road and bridge projects, as well as for preserving and improving the county’s parks system — which now includes more than 20,000 acres. Funding also supports the County College of Morris and the Vocational School District, including a new Health Professions Center that will prepare students for tomorrow’s workforce.
RESULTS THAT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES
Morris County continues to maintain its AAA bond rating — reaffirmed for the 50th consecutive year. That financial strength is no accident. It’s the product of steady leadership and responsible decisions. Doug Cabana’s role in shaping and passing this budget is one more example of why residents trust him to keep Morris County safe, affordable, and strong.
